Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity established for African-American Men, was founded at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York on December 4, 1906, by seven extraordinary African-American men known as the Jewels. Out of this beginning came successive college and university chapters throughout the United States and abroad, many of them at historically Black Colleges and Universities. Eta Gamma is one of these chapters.

Founded May 15th, 1970 the Mackin Packin Never Lackin Eta Gamma Chapter has created graduates that have graduated to successful careers as engineers, physicians, military officerss, lawyers, architects, dentists, managers, educators, scientists and even members of the U.S. Congress. The Eta Gamma Chapter boasts one of the strongest and most enduring legacies of any other Chapter in Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. For 25 years straight, Eta Gamma has brought home Texas Chapter of the Year award along with multiple regional titles.
